Import bank transactions from a CSV

On this page

Import a CSV downloaded from your bank when you are working without a feed or bringing in missing activity. Imported bank transactions still need categorization and review.

Before you begin

Create the financial account first. You need permission to import data and create transactions, plus access to the account. Check the file’s date range against activity already in Jade Funds.

Import the file

  1. Open Accounts and select the financial account.
  2. Choose Import transactions and upload the CSV. You can also start from Administration’s Data page.
  3. Check the detected columns. Use Map CSV columns if your bank uses different headings.
  4. Map Date, Description, and Amount; or Date, Description, Debit, and Credit. Map optional details where available.
  5. Preview the rows. Check dates, amounts, errors, and duplicate matches before confirming.
  6. Confirm the accepted rows, then open the imported transactions and complete their categories and funds.

Check money in and money out

A positive Amount or Credit means money coming in. Debit means money going out. Compare a known deposit and a known purchase with your statement in the preview. Fix the mapping before confirmation if the signs are wrong.

If rows are skipped or rejected

Duplicate matches and invalid rows are shown in the preview. Investigate them instead of repeatedly uploading the same file. Importing a CSV does not mark every transaction reviewed. See Review a transaction.
